The Sri Lankan army has launched a muscular offensive against the separatists who are cornered in an area of 13 km2. The Security Council meeting yesterday in New York was informal due to the position of China and Russia.
According to diplomats, these two countries believe that this civil war is an internal affair in Sri Lanka in the north.
